The steps listed below should be finished prior to installing any Microvellum software, including Toolbox, ERP, Fluid Designer; and also before installing a program update.
If you are upgrading/updating, be sure to backup your current data before proceeding!
Before executing the steps below, exit AutoCAD and any Microvellum products you may be running.
i. Disable UAC
ii. Disable anti-virus
iii. Unblock the downloaded install file
iv. Extract the install file to C:\Temp\
v. Run setup.exe as an Administrator
1.) Before you modify your Microvellum programs in any way by installing, reinstalling, or uninstalling, make sure you have full access to all files on your system. To do so, press the Windows key on your keyboard and enter "Change User Account Control Settings." Set the slider to "Never Notify.
Windows 7 or 8 - Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts
Windows 10 - Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> User Accounts -> Change User Account Control Settings
2.) The Windows Operating System often blocks access to certain system settings from downloaded content, whereas Microvellum software needs access to those settings. To modify this default OS behavior, you need to change a setting for your download.
a. - Right-click on the file and click on "Properties". If you are unable to locate the installation file, check your Downloads folder or Desktop.
3.) When you download files from the Internet, Windows will attempt to block it from accessing your computer until verified safe.
- - At the bottom of the file properties box, click the Unblock button or check the box to Unblock, then click OK.
4.) If the file is a ZIP, you must extract the contents by right clicking on the file and selecting “Extract All” or another app that you have set up on your computer. You will want to specify a location to extract in order to reduce long filename issues – We recommend exporting to C:\temp\
5.) Once you've done that, then find the setup.exe, right-click on it, and select "Run as Administrator"
