Q. I upgraded, now I cannot produce code for my Gannomat doweling machine.
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 22:25)
Q. How do I setup multiple processing stations?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 2:00 minutes)
Q. How do I backup my library data?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 10:54 minutes)
Q. How do I check my database size and does the size of the database matter?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 10:54 minutes)
Q. How do I archive my projects?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 44:00 minutes)
Q. Can everything be set up to go to a machine set without having to check each part every time?
A. Using the Map Parts button next to the Processing Station will allow you to specify what station a part will always have selected. When modifying the processing station you can apply Auto Assign Options from the settings tab.
Q. Where do you set up the default station for different part types?
A. You can add as many stations as you want from the processing Stations setup screen. It is available from the tools pull down menu, or by accessing a work order.
Q. The shop is running multiple cutlist through for a job. I need to remake parts from mulitple cutlists. How do I get a new cutlist that can import parts from other based on a list from the shop?
A. Currently there is no option to do that.
Q. Our g-code shows that it's skipping a tool while making row holes on standard cabinets. What could be the cause of that?
A. Most errors that occur during processing will display an error message in the Microvellum Error Log to provide information as to why a certain process failed. To access the error log go to Help > View Error Log
Q. How do you adjust your label size in work orders?
A. The label size can be adjusted in the Report Designer.
Q. Is there a way to change the properties of a library material without adding it to the project level and re-allocating every single part in the job with that material?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@49:27)
Q. What is the best way to add 3D and 2D hardware so it shows up in drawing? We have been having issues with our 3D not showing up.
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@)
Q. Do you have best practices for troubleshooting different things like products not drawing correctly, oddly behaving products, processing issues, etc?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 24:50)
Q. What is the Microvellum Support Portal found in Toolbox? How do I use it?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 31:50)
Q. Is there a way to change the Pull Double Max Span in each Project, or in an individual product?
A. Find the answer in the recorded video above (@ 34:25)
Q. When using the Clonable Materials, can you change the Material Name and have that change on the left side also.
A. It will change. I did notice when I last did this that the material interface had to be shut down and reopened. We plan on looking into this for the 15.5 release.
Q. In regards to nesting, if you have an irregular shape, how can you get the shapes to nest closer together to get a better yield?
A. When modifying your nesting processing station, under the nest tab you can adjust the true shape control slider. The further right the slider is the better the yield will be, but this will also increase processing time.
Q. How much control does the new version have of the program names when they are being written?
A. It is the same as in previous versions, not a lot has changed with the naming of the programs.
Q. I can't add my Giben Panel saw. I exported my processing stations. All were added but the Giben. Its not letting me add the saw.
A. There was an issue related to importing Saw Processing Station. This has been corrected and will be available in the General Release 15.5. For now the station will need to be setup manually. ,We had an issue in previous versions were it would not export and import all the correct saw settings. Until you get that version (15.5), it would be best to take a screenshot of the settings and set them up again.
Q. How do I make mass changes the materials of a bunch of products at once?
A. In the default library parts are assigned materials based on material pointers, which belong to the specification group that the product is assigned to. By modifying the spec group material file you can change what material is assigned to a material pointer and this will change the material for all parts assigned to the specific material pointer and specification group.
Q. Is SQL CE always running once you launch Microvellum? Or, does it open in the back ground when working it's magic as needed?
A. It is running off of a software called SQL Compact 4.0. It is always running, regardless of whether you are in SQL or SQLCE mode.
Q. Would like to add or deduct Pull quantity from drawers. For instance, a large drawer may have one or two pulls, would like to know how to go from one to the other.
A. There is a global variable called "Pull Double Max Span". Enter the cabinet width that will require two pulls on a drawer.
Q. I'm trying to upgrade to the latest library. Made changes to all the Global Variables and now getting an error:
************** JIT Debugging **************
Application does not support Windows Forms just-in-time (JIT)
debugging. Contact the application author for more
I can open in the spreadsheet but not in the project setup
A. This error indicates that a spreadsheet has become corrupt and needs to be recovered. Create a support ticket and we can help you resolve this issue.
Q. What is the easiest way, either in the current release or 15.5, to adjust several material thicknesses and even keep control of them? I have tried to do this by creating formulas in the cutsheet that look to variables I have setup to control the main materials like plywood with liner instead of melamine, but I ran into issues with the template material thickness being used instead of the cloneable material.
A. In advanced Library setup you can select multiple materials, right click and select the "Edit Multiple Materials" button. This will allow you to change several parameters for all the selected materials, including material thickness.
Q. I’d like to be able to show hinges and leg levelers in vertical sections? Would like to show hinges in my plan sections?
Q. Where do you setup the processing stations for different part types?
A. Using the Map Parts button next to the processing station will allow you to specify what station a part will always have selected. When modifying the processing station you can apply Auto Assign Options from the settings tab. You can add as many stations as you want from the processing stations setup screen. It is available from the tools pull down menu, or by accessing a work order.
You can also see the answer demonstrated recording above @ 17:50
Q. Sheet priority does not work very well. It won't pick multiple sheets of different sizes to get the best yield.
A. I believe that the sheet priority option is very linear. So it will first look to priority 1 and use it unless a part cannot fit on that sheet. We don't have an optimizing option that will find best yield across all available sheets....yet.
Q. Can I watch this at my leisure after this session?
A. Yes. We are recording. It will be posted on our Help Center and emailed to you tomorrow.
